TripAdvisor‘s online booking and review website Viator became the most recent victim of a large-scale data breach. The breach is currently estimated to have exposed the payment card details of 1.4 million of its customers.
The company has begun notifying its affected customers about the security breach as mentioned in their press release.
“While our investigation is ongoing, we are in the process of notifying approximately 1.4 million Viator customers, who had some form of information potentially affected by the compromise.”
What was stolen, according to the report:
- 880,000 customers’ credit card information, including the card number, expiration date, name, billing address and email address
- 560,000 customers’ Viator account information including email address, password and a Viator “nickname”
Of course, we advise all Viator customers to change their passwords immediately.
